Professor for Medical Microbiology

Curious about why the natural world is as it is, I studied Biology with a major in Ecology and Evolution at the University of Mainz. After completing my PhD in 2014, I received two postdoctoral fellowships, allowing me to pursue my own research in the lab of Prof. Olivia Roth (Kiel), Prof. Mike Brockhurst (York) and Prof. Alex Hall (Zürich), before I started my own group funded by an SNSF Ambizione Fellowship at ETH Zürich in 2018. In April 2024 my group moved to the Max von Pettenkofer-Institute at LMU Munich, where I hold a W2 Professorship.Curious about why the natural world is as it is, I studied Biology with a major in Ecology and Evolution at the University of Mainz. When I am not working I am a mummy of twins enjoying the view of the world through their eyes.
